The Megrahi abomination rumbles on.

The Cabinet are (l to r): Cabinet Secretary fo...Image via WikipediaSo Alex Salmond has said that if his criminal loving party manages to get re-elected this year that he will try to reveal evidence as to why Megrahi might have been wrongly convicted.

This will be his way of trying to grovel back into the good books of the large part of the Scottish public who were disgusted at Megrahi's release.
No promise that he will reveal it, because it is not in his power to do so, but another brave attempt to lure voters back with idle talk.

If this evidence exists it should have been used to prove to all concerned that Megrahi was framed, but as Megrahi chose to be freed a convicted mass murderer rather than clear his name when the chance was offered, makes his guilt rather than his innocence the most likely outcome of such a trial......or umpteenth inquest whatever the case may be.

He was convicted and never proved to be innocent, therefore in the eyes of all those who are convinced he is guilty of 270 murders, (which is the biggest percentage of the British and American public,) he will always be guilty.

Even though he is reported to be in a coma and his death expected at anytime he will get no sympathy from the people who regard him to be guilty as he has lived a life of luxury since his release 17 months ago.
The people who think the way I do, still would like to have seen him die in jail suffering the way he made so many others suffer.

He deserves no compassion nor does Alex Salmond and his party at the election as Megrahi was not the only guilty criminal the S.N.P. released during their term.
It would suit the S.N.P. fine if prisoners were allowed the vote as at least they would be sure of them, though maybe not enough to get them back at the helm.

Megrahi was supposed to have died 14 months ago,and whether its true that he is in a coma or not, his death cannot come quickly enough.
As for Salmond and his party..........they died when Megrahi was released.
When the election results are announced hopefully Megrahi will be watching from the hell he should be banished to in death, and know it was his doing that banished the S.N.P.to the hell of the back benches.

  3. There's no doubt that the evidence you refer to does exist. It was sufficient for the SCCRC to refer the case back to the court of appeal, and just the bits they've allowed us to know about could have been enough to have led to the overturning of the Kamp van Zeist verdict.

It's easy enough to say that Megrahi shouldn't have dropped his appeal, but I for one am not sure that I would have done differently if I were in a foreign gaol thousands of miles from my family, if I'd been told I had only weeks to live, if I had no reason to believe I could trust the courts or the government, and if the Justice Secretary seemed to be saying that I wouldn't be released unless I dropped my appeal.

  4. Well Pete, the choice was dying an innocent man if he could prove his innocence, or dying a guilty man for the sake of freedom, either way in the eyes of most of the British and American people, he should never have been released unless he was proven to be innocent.

The way things stand he will always be guilty in their eyes, and die guilty but free thanks to a lot of manipulation from the governments involved.

    Thanks for stating your opinion.

  5. This whole story is so shocking, Donald, particularly in the light of recent developments in Libya, showing up Tony Blair’s good friend for the monster he is. I don’t like conspiracy theory but there seems to have been a high degree of collusion between the Scottish, British and Libyan governments, as murky as the oil, thicker than blood in every conceivable sense.
